Do you think that it is important to save every month? Will it make any difference if you are on a monthly allowance or earning a salary? Explain.
Of course, the source of income does affect the expenditure of individual. Everyone will be thinking on the same line of "I will be spending more wisely if it was my hard earn money". But I suppose education does play a part as well. If your mum has taught you well to be a responsible individual, it should not be a problem spending correctly.
Saving is good, the Chinese believe it is a virtue, and they further mention scrimping makes you look like a miser. I agree with the latter more. I am not a person into saving; I think money is just a tool, a stored wealth. Before the money was invented, people store their earning, for example crops of farmer physically. Until the crops turn really bad because it will one day wither and die. So just like the crops, money are of no value if they are not spend. I think rather than save for a rainy day, we should spend wisely.
I believe in the need to spend in things that you need and want, just do not overdo it. When you know you need a pen when the current one is having some problem, just buy it, it will save you problems bring about by the previos. When you sees a pen you like, just buy it, it will make your day perhaps. Life is all about enjoying after all. If you are really into saving, think further, why waste putting your money on generating less than a percent of interest per year, that is perhaps slower than inflation and you are actually losing value of your money. Invest, make money work for you rather than working for it and saving it up.
All in all, the source of expenditure has little impact on the individual spending because after all it is the person’s mindset that determines his action. And saving? Not a viable option for me. Spend and enjoy life. Listen, consider, try other options and you are open to more possibilities. The wise man says “Grow Value, not grow money.”
